Chalk Board

- 2008 BMU Baseball
By Jamie Eastman As the players gaze out from the school windows towards the four feet of snow on their field, they wonder if spring will ever come, making their urge to play baseball stronger and stronger. Head Baseball Coach, Scott Blood, said he has been counting down the days since the end of last season. He knows that his players are ready to accomplish their goals for the 2008 season. They have the determination to get to Centennial Field and positively change their previous season records. The coach also says he is excited to have all the returning talent and he knows the boys are willing to do what it takes this spring season. Coach Blood plans to make more improvements to the playing ground this season by painting the batting cage, putting the finishing touches on last years new dug outs and keeping the grass conditions and field markings in tip top shape. Assistant coaches Gary Thompson and Chris Kendall will hopefully return to provide their coaching techniques and Steve Blood will continue to keep the stats for the team. The Blue Mountain Department of Athletics is also gearing up for the spring sports season as it continues to search for coaches of the Middle school and Junior Varsity teams. Both of these programs are crucial in the building of fundamentals of baseball and softball at BMU says Coach Blood, “My goal is to build a program that is competitive to win a state championship,” without these programs, the varsity team would not be able to accomplish the task. For information on becoming a coach at BMU please contact Athletic Director Todd Powers at (802) 757-2711x1300 or todd.powers@bmuschool.org
